For our patient's comfort we have monitors in each treatment room equipped with DVD's. Bring your own DVD to watch while your treatment progresses or choose from one of our many favorites. We also have stereo headphones and one of the best magazine selections around. Our reception room is also equipped with a DVD and a telephone for local calls.

To assure our patient's safety we employ the most modern sterilization methods. We test our sterilization equipment on a regular basis. All instruments are either disposable or heat sterilized. Our clinical staff is CPR certified and Dr. Watson is certified in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), the same certification required by EMT's. Our office is equipped with emergency medical equipment as well as a defibrillator. We truly go all out for our patient's safety.

Dr. Watson is well trained and has extensive experience in all aspects of general dentistry including crowns, bridges, root canals, gum therapy, implants, as well as TMJ (click here to learn more about Dr. Watson). Dr. Watson also does extensive treatment in cosmetic dentistry. This includes "white fillings", porcelain fillings, bleaching (tooth whitening), bonding and porcelain veneers. Dr. Watson is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry where he has received their two distinguished continuing educational awards.

Our staff will go all out to educate the patient about their treatment. We will employ before and after photos, models, and we use the Casey Educational System which is a DVD of all procedures. Each procedure on the DVD is only about 1 minute but will help the patient understand their particular treatment.

Our office also is equipped to handle those patients who have a fear of dental treatment. We understand your fear and are ready to assist you. For your comfort we use nitrous oxide and stereo headphones. We also employ conscious sedation using only a pill. Now you can sleep while your dental treatment is performed. About Dr. Watson
Dr. Watson is a native of the Peninsula. He lived in Hampton until the age of 7 at which time he moved to Newport News. He attended Ferguson High School (now a part of Christopher Newport University.) After high school Dr. Watson attended undergraduate at the University of Richmond where he received a BS degree in Biology. From there Dr. Watson received his dental degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He has been practicing General Dentistry since 1983. Dr. Watson has been married to his wife Helene since 1983 and they have two sons, Jeff and Patrick.

Dr. Watson is a firm believer in continued education. He continues to take many hours of training each year to keep abreast of new techniques in the field of dentistry. He is a member of the Peninsula Dental Society, Virginia Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Dental Organization of Conscious Sedation, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Watson has received the two distinguished continuing educational awards given by the Academy of General Dentistry; the Fellowship Award given to the individual who takes 500 hours of continuing education and passes an all day comprehensive exam and the prestigious Mastership Award for taking an additional 600 hours of continuing education which have to be in certain areas of dentistry. Four hundred of those hours have to be hands on experience. This is a tough award to receive. In addition to dental organizations Dr. Watson is certified both in CPR and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).

Dr. Watson is committed to giving patients quality care. He is a believer in patient education. He wants the patient to understand their treatment and why it is needed.
